Charlotte came out on top <a href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/game\/_\/gameId\/401866755\/heat-hornets\">127-126<\/a>, and it will play the loser of Wednesday&#8217;s 7-8 game between the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"74c23102-8c27-c8e6-ec1b-8a8fd4d42554\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/orl\/orlando-magic\">Orlando Magic<\/a> and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"ca1685ed-b799-53e4-7924-e58ea6eb8f3a\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/phi\/philadelphia-76ers\">Philadelphia 76ers<\/a> for the No. 8 seed in the playoffs.<\/p>\n<p>It seemed as if the Heat were in prime position for a victory, up four points with 28 seconds left in regulation. Following a <a data-player-guid=\"b5998278-e957-3116-b87e-0e0bbc518dc5\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4433287\/brandon-miller\">Brandon Miller<\/a> 3-pointer to make it a one-point game, <a data-player-guid=\"1417212d-ee61-bc8b-40a5-30dc9db6d72b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4395725\/tyler-herro\">Tyler Herro<\/a> hit two free throws to extend the lead. However, Charlotte forced overtime after <a data-player-guid=\"750f545c-3cc8-fea4-91cd-828da373cc8e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4395651\/coby-white\">Coby White<\/a> hit a fadeaway 3-pointer to tie the score and Herro missed a 3-pointer.<\/p>\n<p>Miami had another chance to win in overtime, going up by one with 8.7 seconds left. But Charlotte guard <a data-player-guid=\"ffef74e7-7cb4-3cb6-8fc3-4f01ac97fd39\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4432816\/lamelo-ball\">LaMelo Ball<\/a> attacked the basket for a layup and Miami&#8217;s ensuing chance to win was blocked.<\/p>\n<p>Ball led the all scorers with 30 points, while <a data-player-guid=\"f288347b-fa90-b31d-965a-98e20e1a8294\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4066383\/miles-bridges\">Miles Bridges<\/a> added 28 for the Hornets. <a data-player-guid=\"b35bafd9-3d93-3a83-c88a-6c08e851afa3\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/4278053\/davion-mitchell\">Davion Mitchell<\/a> registered a team-high 28 points for the Heat, and <a data-player-guid=\"064c19d0-6527-6a21-ca99-fdfb296fe05d\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/player\/_\/id\/3059319\/andrew-wiggins\">Andrew Wiggins<\/a> had 27.<\/p>\n<p>The <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"ed294c02-3c44-db14-9e06-1b4e8cff9558\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/por\/portland-trail-blazers\">Portland Trail Blazers<\/a> and <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"c6eade89-5971-0e84-8ccb-cd91482b2b50\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nba\/team\/_\/name\/phx\/phoenix-suns\">Phoenix Suns<\/a> closed out the night in a Western Conference 7-8 battle.
