Tammy Duckworth\u2019s (D-IL) war powers resolution in a 52-47 vote, mostly along party lines. Sen. Rand Paul (R-KY) was the sole Republican to cross the aisle with Democrats, while Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA) voted no. Sen. Jim Justice (R-WV) did not vote.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.congress.gov\/bill\/119th-congress\/senate-joint-resolution\/123\/text\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The resolution<\/a> would have directed the withdrawal of U.S. armed forces from hostilities involving the Islamic Republic of Iran, despite a fragile ceasefire still in effect.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">\u201cIt\u2019s just exhausting,\u201d Sen. Cynthia Lummis (R-WY)<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/2026\/04\/14\/gop-trump-iran-war-powers-00871766\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> <span style=\"font-weight:400\">told reporters Tuesday<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight:400\">. \u201cDoing a war powers resolution just undermines the president. I don\u2019t believe [the Democrats] would do that if the president had a \u2018D\u2019 behind his name.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">Virginia Democratic Sen. Tim Kaine slammed the conflict as a \u201cfoolish war of choice.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight:400\">\u201cWe haven\u2019t yet been able to get more than one Republican to join us, but we\u2019re going to offer them the opportunity to listen to their constituents and do the right thing every week until this war is over,\u201d Kaine said.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-media-max-width=\"560\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">It\u2019s been 47 days since Trump attacked Iran.
