Three of those sources said at least ten employees overall were dismissed, including support staff, agents, and supervisors. The FBI did not immediately respond to NBC\u2019s request for comment.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NBC reported that the terminations occurred the same day Patel said federal authorities had acquired his phone records during the Biden administration in connection with the Trump investigations. In a statement to Reuters, Patel said it was \u201coutrageous and deeply alarming\u201d that previous FBI leadership \u201csecretly subpoenaed\u201d his records, along with those of now-White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles, and described the process as having been placed in files designed to avoid oversight.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The FBI Agents Association responded Wednesday to the reported dismissals. In a statement quoted by NBC, the group said it condemned what it described as the \u201cunlawful termination\u201d of FBI special agents and claimed the move \u201cviolates the due process rights of those who risk their lives to protect our country.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u00a0The association added that \u201cthese actions weaken the Bureau by stripping away critical expertise and destabilizing the workforce,\u201d warning that the firings undermine trust in leadership and jeopardize the bureau\u2019s ability to meet its recruitment goals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"a9d-pre\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">NBC noted that, since Trump returned to office, the FBI has removed employees tied not only to the Mar-a-Lago investigation but also to investigations related to January 6 cases. One former official dismissed earlier in the administration, David Sundberg, has announced a run for a House seat.<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a9d\"\/>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"\/>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The NBC report comes against the backdrop of the August 8, 2022, search of Trump\u2019s Florida residence. As Breitbart News\u00a0<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2022\/08\/12\/exclusive-warrant-shows-doj-fbi-waited-several-days-after-judge-approved-to-conduct-mar-a-lago-raid\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">covered<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> just days later<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, the warrant authorizing the search was signed by U.S. Magistrate Judge Bruce Reinhart on August 5, 2022, but agents waited until August 8 to execute it. The warrant permitted agents to search the \u201c45 Office,\u201d storage rooms, and other areas used by Trump and his staff, while excluding guest suites and areas occupied by third parties.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Internal emails later obtained by Fox News Digital and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/pre-viral\/2025\/12\/16\/fbi-expressed-doubts-mar-a-lago-raid-justification-doj-pressure\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reported<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by Breitbart News showed that some FBI officials had expressed concerns before the raid about whether sufficient probable cause existed.
