We\u2019ve had enough. It\u2019s time to ban pajamas at Tampa International Airport,\u201d its <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/FlyTPA\/status\/2027037182091731286\">post <\/a>read.\u00a0<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>First Crocs, now PJs \u2014 Tampa International is cracking down on comfy travel fashion, and the internet is not impressed. <span class=\"credit\">AP<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>After bragging about previously \u201cbanning Crocs,\u201d the airport said they were moving on to address an \u201ceven larger crisis: Pajamas. At. The. Airport. In the middle of the day.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe madness stops today,\u201d the X post read.\u201d The movement starts now. Help Tampa International Airport become the world\u2019s first Crocs-free AND pajama-free airport. Do your part. Say no to pajamas at TPA.\u201d<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module aligncenter wp-block-nypost-editor-primary-tag\">\n<\/aside>\n<p>In a statement, Tampa International Airport clarified that they were not actually outlawing sleepwear in the terminal, saying that the X post was simply \u201clighthearted, satirical social media content\u201d shared in an \u201congoing effort to engage with our followers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday\u2019s post about \u2018banning\u2019 pajamas was another playful nod to day-of-travel fashion debates,\u201d they told The Post. \u201cWe encourage our passengers to travel comfortably and appreciate our loyal followers who enjoy the online humor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the tongue-in-cheek manifesto quickly took off online \u2014 and not everyone was ready to fold up their flannel without a fight.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWho the f\u2014k cares what I wear while your TSA agents go through all my s\u2014t and pat me down?\u201d someone <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/BillLeach15\/status\/2027057319687647537\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">wrote beneath the post.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat do you care what I wear on my flight where I\u2019m going to be crammed in with a bunch of miserable people while some d\u2014bag reclines his seat into me?\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Not everyone is ready to trade comfort for courtesy, of course \u2014 especially in cramped cabins and amid chronic delays. <span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/imetzach\/status\/2027069855501799790\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Another similarly<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/imetzach\/status\/2027069855501799790\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">sounded off<\/a>: \u201cIs this a joke? The TSA makes us wait in line, remove our shoes, belts, empty our pockets, and scan us. Crocs and pajamas are a response to having to go through all that. Easy on, easy off. No belts. No shoe laces. No pockets to empty.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Others argued that cramped cabins \u2014 not cozy sweatpants \u2014 are the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/femalecamper\/status\/2027051499910545860\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">real problem<\/a>.<\/p>\n<aside class=\"single__inline-module alignright\">\n\t<\/aside>\n<p>\u201cMaybe if there were more room on the plane, people wouldn\u2019t have to wear such flexible material.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, not everyone was clutching their carry-ons in outrage. Some <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/25\/us-news\/fliers-praise-sean-duffys-tip-to-dress-better-at-airports\/\">applauded the airport\u2019s attempt<\/a> to restore a little jet-set decorum.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlmost every other nation on Earth (yes even the poor ones) respects itself enough to not wear bed time clothing in public besides the US?? Tampa, you\u2019re doing the Lord\u2019s work,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/mooshyguy\/status\/2027063026365743137\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">a fan of the ban penned.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Another <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/brhbigdog\/status\/2027061434375454833\">chimed in<\/a>: \u201cThank you it\u2019s time for adults to behave as adults and grow up. If they can\u2019t or won\u2019t then how can it be expected that today\u2019s children won\u2019t repeat this behavior.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>And then came the <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/ScottCo58199224\/status\/2027059749414441355\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nostalgia for the golden age<\/a> of glam travel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere used to be a time where Americans would dress up when they travel. How Americans dress now speaks volumes as to where our National soul is at.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But critics weren\u2019t done \u2014 with some seeing the proposal as <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/nwlucky_\/status\/2027054942347825306\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">something more sinister<\/a> than a style critique.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cVery weird tactic to move us closer to only the rich being able to fly. Can\u2019t have the peasants polluting the world.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>Tampa Airport wants a return to glam travel: say goodbye to Crocs, wave farewell to PJs, and maybe don your \u201cGolden Age\u201d jeans instead. <span class=\"credit\">monticellllo \u2013 stock.adobe.com<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Whether the pajama purge is satire, social experiment or serious style stance, one thing\u2019s certain: in 2026, the real turbulence might not be in the air \u2014 it\u2019s in the terminal.<\/p>\n<p>And Tampa\u2019s tongue-in-cheek tirade isn\u2019t happening in a vacuum.<\/p>\n<p>As <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/11\/24\/us-news\/sean-duffy-urges-americans-to-dress-better-and-restore-civility-while-flying\/\">previously reported by The Post<\/a>, Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy has also been urging Americans to dial up the decorum since the busy Thanksgiving travel season last November.<\/p>\n<figure class=\"nyp-slideshow-modal-image wp-block-image aligncenter size-large\"><figcaption>From federal officials to Florida airports, the message is clear: the battle over bare feet and bunny slippers has officially boarded.<br \/><span class=\"credit\">Bloomberg via Getty Images<\/span><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve seen \u2026 maybe a degradation in civility, in the airspace,\u201d Duffy told reporters at the time. \u201cYou can\u2019t legislate that, right? You can\u2019t mandate it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Still, he made the ask anyway.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s try not to wear slippers and pajamas as we come here,\u201d he said, arguing that dressing with a bit more intention could subtly shift behavior.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether it\u2019s a pair of jeans and a decent shirt.
