It will be a while before Apple TV<\/strong><\/a>‘s sci-fi masterpiece returns with another season, but while waiting for its release, viewers must watch an overlooked corporate horror series on Prime Video<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n There is a slew of horror shows and thriller movies out there that dabble with haunted homes and otherworldly beings. However, when it comes to capturing the hidden terrors of the corporate and the dark satire that can be derived out of it, only a few stories in the horror genre dare to turn the office itself into a monster.<\/p>\n One horror show on Prime Video<\/a> sets out to be a unique addition to the genre by adapting a dark thriller novel that seems reminiscent of one of Apple TV’s best sci-fi shows<\/a> in more ways than one.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Severance<\/em> season 3<\/a> is not coming out before 2027. Owing to this, fans of the Apple TV sci-fi show will have to wait for at least another year to be able to watch its next exciting chapter. While waiting for its return, though, viewers can check out Prime Video’s The Consultant<\/em><\/a>, which dabbles with many similar themes.<\/p>\n Based on Bentley Little’s book of the same name, The Consultant <\/em>primarily unfolds in the confines of a gaming company’s office. It begins with the arrival of the titular consultant, Regus Patoff, who initially claims he hopes to save the company after its CEO’s murder. However, things gradually take a darker turn when he slowly takes over the company and reveals his true colors as a devil in disguise.<\/p>\n Similar to Severance<\/em>, The Consultant <\/em>uses the workplace as a microcosm for larger existential anxieties. In both shows, the employees of the central companies lose all autonomy and gradually become expendable assets. Unlike Severance<\/em>, The Consultant <\/em>leans more towards horror and even adopts supernatural elements.<\/p>\n However, its shared thematic foundation and subtle corporate satire makes it the perfect show for Severance<\/em> fans. Not to mention, the Prime Video horror show is also driven by Christoph Waltz’s performance, who puts his masterful ability to portray villains on full display by brilliantly playing the evil titular consultant.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Severance<\/em> season 2 ended<\/a> its run in March 2025. Yet, filming for its next installment is scheduled to begin in Summer 2026. The long gap between its previous season’s release and the start of production on season 3 is one of the biggest reasons behind its delayed return on Apple TV. Arguably, though, a show like Severance<\/em><\/a>, in which every plot detail is well-thought-out and meticulously layered, demands patience behind the scenes.<\/p>\n Sci-fi shows also usually require the heavy use of VFX, which will potentially delay Severance<\/em> season 3’s release even further.
