The 41st Artios Awards<\/a>, given out by the Casting Society (CSA), took place across three different ceremonies in New York, Los Angeles, and London, honoring casting achievements in film<\/a>, television, and theater. Casting Society currently boasts close to 1,200 members around the world, based in the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Asia, and Africa. The Artios Awards honor outstanding casting at a variety of different budget levels for film and formats\/locations for television and theater.<\/p>\n

This year included some returning stalwarts on the TV<\/a> side like \u201cHacks\u201d and \u201cSeverance,\u201d but also nods for the first seasons of \u201cThe Pitt\u201d and \u201cThe Studio.\u201d The Artios wins surely add more momentum to Francine Maisler and \u201cSinners<\/a>\u201d in terms of the first Best Casting Oscar, as it was the only film out of the nominees to win in an eligible category. <\/p>\n

The win for Avy Kaufman and \u201cSentimental Value\u201d is an interesting, although likely quite small, datapoint in the fight for Best International Feature, too; Kaufman\u2019s win comes in the Best Studio or Independent Drama category, not International Feature (which went to Mawuko Kuadzi and \u201cThe Fisherman\u201d). And regardless of any other awards implications, it\u2019s interesting to see \u201cSorry, Baby\u201d and \u201cRental Family\u201d honored for Low Budget Feature and Studio or Independent Feature Comedy.<\/p>\n

At the Los Angeles ceremony, The Lynn Stalmaster Award for Career Achievement was presented to Ayo Davis, president of Disney Branded Television and the Rosalie Joseph Humanitarian Award was presented posthumously to casting director and former CSA Administrator Laura Adler and The Hoyt Bowers Award for Excellence in Casting was awarded to casting director Julie Ashton. <\/p>\n

In New York, the Marion Dougherty New York Apple Award was presented to Broadway Cares\/Equity Fights AIDS. In London, The Global Impact Award was presented to GAP Workshops and The Capelier-Shaw Award for Excellence in Casting was awarded to casting director Kate Rhodes James. The Associate Casting Director Spotlight Award recipients were presented to Leslie Wasserman in Los Angeles and Dustin Presley in New York.<\/p>\n
