NBC announced an upcoming NBA on NBC <\/em>throwback\u00a0broadcast<\/a> on Thursday that will include 1990s broadcast icons such as Bob Costas, Mike Fratello, Doug Collins, Jim Gray, Isiah Thomas, P.J. Carlesimo, and even ESPN\u2019s Hannah Storm.<\/p>\n One name not included: Peter Vecsey.<\/p>\n The longtime NBA columnist was known for his work as a reporter and analyst during the NBA on NBC<\/em> heyday.<\/p>\n After NBC Sports posted a press release about the broadcast on X on Thursday night, Vecsey responded to the account in disappointment.<\/p>\n \u201cWOW!! In 2020, Vescsey called ESPN \u201cstupid\u201d<\/a> for being left out of The Last Dance<\/em>, the ESPN Films and Netflix 10-episode docuseries about the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls.<\/p>\n \u201cESPN never called me about The Last Dance<\/em>,\u201d Vecsey told The Boston Globe<\/em> in 2020.\u201dIt\u2019s absolutely amazing to me that they could be that stupid. I had so many inside stories that were printed that they are not even going to address it. It\u2019s amazing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n Vecsey was never afraid to be very honest \u2014 and sometimes combative \u2014 in his reporting, writing, and commentary (and in social media posts<\/a> he shouldn\u2019t have sent<\/a>).<\/p>\n\n
