The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) on Saturday issued an advisory cautioning citizens against sharing \u201cunverified, inflammatory or misleading information\u201d in light of the recent geopolitical situation.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn view of the prevailing sensitive national situation, PTA urges all citizens to be responsible while using social media and digital platforms,\u201d the body said, advising citizens not to \u201cshare, disseminate, forward or upload information\/content which is authentic and based upon official sources and to refrain from spreading rumours and fake news\u201d.<\/p>\n

PTA cautioned against sharing fake news or information \u201cliable to legal action in accordance with applicable laws\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cPTA calls upon all citizens to act with caution, maturity, and a strong sense of national responsibility to help, maintain stability and public confidence,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n

The statement comes against the backdrop of escalating geopolitical tension in the Middle East, as Israel and the United States launched <\/a>an attack on Iran on Saturday.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, Pakistan\u2019s armed forces continue to counter the Afghan Taliban regime\u2019s aggression on its western border as part of Operation Ghazab lil-Haq<\/a>, which was launched against the Afghan Taliban after \u201cunprovoked firing\u201d from across the border.<\/p>\n<\/p><\/div>\n
