Deion Sanders has notoriously been a proponent of hiring former NFL players to fill out his Colorado coaching staff, and that is not going away, even with the revamped staff.
Vonn Bell is one of those former players who joined Colorado’s staff this offseason, fresh off ending his playing career in 2024. Now the safeties coach for the Buffs, Bell spoke to the media Wednesday, giving the lowdown on his room, which features all new players except for one (Ben Finneseth).

One player who immediately stood out to Bell was Tennessee transfer Boo Carter, whom Bell called “one of the most talented guys I’ve seen in a long time.”
“He’s been good. Started a little rocky, but he’s been embracing those challenges,” Bell said. “He’s been in the office everyday, being the best version of himself. He made a play on the ball today. He’s so talented, the sky’s the limit for him.”
Carter might be the most talented player on the Buffs roster and can transform the Colorado defense if he puts it all together.
Originally in line to be an analyst under defensive coordinator and safeties coach Robert Livingston. Livingston left for the Broncos, leaving a hole in his position coach duties. Sanders tabbed Bell for that role, and after hearing from a couple of his players Wednesday morning, they love the experience Bell’s bringing to the table.
