US-based Arbor Energy has entered into an agreement with GridMarket to provide up to 5GW of zero-emission baseload power for infrastructure projects, with deliveries scheduled to begin in 2029.
The supply will support data centres, manufacturers and logistics providers seeking reliable electricity as demand from AI applications, electrification initiatives and industrial expansion continues to increase pressure on energy grids.
GridMarket, which connects large energy users with generation providers, will facilitate access to Arbor’s power for its pipeline of clients including data centre owners and land developers.
Arbor manufactures modular power systems built around its HALCYON turbine, a 25MW unit that can be shipped pre-assembled using 3D printing technology. The design reduces manufacturing and deployment timelines.
The HALCYON system is fuel-flexible and currently capable of producing zero-emission power from natural gas, with future potential for negative-emission operation.
The agreement forms part of Arbor’s strategy to expand production, with plans to deliver more than 100 turbines per year by 2030, equivalent to more than 1GW of new capacity annually.
This increased output is intended to help utilities and other high-energy users strengthen grid resilience through distributed power solutions.
GridMarket CEO Nick Davis said: “Data centre operators are actively seeking alternative, reliable energy solutions to meet power and growth demands.
“We focus on identifying and evaluating emerging technologies and providing the data centre and hyperscaler customers in our pipeline with preferred access to these solutions and generation.”
As part of the announcement, Arbor named Nishad Pai as chief commercial officer. Pai previously served as the head of business development & partnerships at Heirloom, where he was involved in large-scale carbon removal agreements, and has held positions at Google, Amazon, YouTube and Adobe.
His role at Arbor will focus on commercial growth as the company prepares for full production of the HALCYON turbine.
