The View guest host Abby Huntsman opened up about her “conservative values” as she reflected on how returning to the ABC talk show helped her cope with how she has been feeling regarding the country’s political state.
Huntsman told the ladies of The View that, prior to returning to guest host this week, she had been “feeling so lost politically.”
“I’ve been feeling so uninspired, so heartbroken,” she confessed, adding that she felt “sad about where our country is.”
Huntsman explained that working in the studio everyday and speaking to their colleagues has changed her perspective.
“I’m realizing we all look different, I may have a different political view than them, but they’re all wanting the same things, they want the health of their children, they want opportunity, and you know what else? They’re all telling me they want goodness again,” she said, prompting the audience to burst into applause.
She added, “I keep wanting to put my head in the sand and I pray that I wake up and this is all over.” But she realized, “It’s not gonna be the president that solves this.”
She concluded her message with a rousing message to the audience ahead of her final day on The View.
“I’m not gonna be here after today and tomorrow so if I leave anything behind its going to be up to all of us – I don’t care what your political views are, but we are responsible for fixing this mess for our kids, for our grandkids,” she said.

Later, Huntsman stated that she doesn’t believe she can “fit in a box” politically after Joy Behar suggested Huntsman may be “an independent, like Sara [Haines].”
“No, I’ve got a lot of conservative values, I have a lot of libertarian values, and there probably a lot of things I’m more liberal on,” Huntsman said. “I don’t fit in a box, I don’t think anybody in this room fits in one box. That is what America is. I don’t want to be defined as something.”
She added, “The point im trying to make is I don’t check every single box of whatever. I don’t even know what the party is today. I don’t fit in the Trump party.”
The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
