If you’re looking for something new to play on Steam, there are four brand-new games that have recently been added to Valve’s digital storefront. Oh, and I should probably mention that all four games are completely free, don’t require a subscription of any kind, and are actually pretty good.
There are so many free games on Steam, and not all of them are worth your time (which is really saying something, considering they cost nothing). However, this latest batch of four games, available to download and keep forever, offers a little something for everyone. We’ve got horror, sci-fi, adventure, and even a little bit of pizza. Let’s dig in.
Umbra
Umbra is a top-down survival horror experience set aboard an abandoned spaceship. You’ll have to manage limited light sources, avoid hostile creatures, and survive without relying on combat. In other words, this is proper survival. Don’t count on Leon Kennedy kicking down the door to save you with a backflip and a rocket launcher.
AVaOut
This sci-fi co-op puzzle game was developed in Unreal Engine 5, and it sure looks pretty. Your goal is to scavenge for scarce fuel and gather clues left by the advance team to investigate the planet’s potential for terraforming, while remaining alert for any hostile lifeforms. An interesting concept for a game, to be sure, though you’ll want to round up some friends to make this one worth your while.
4Spicchi
A mystery sci-fi game (I actually think every game here is sci-fi, whoops) in which players have to save a pizzeria from monsters made of food. How? By turning pizza ingredients into bullets and blasting the beasts straight back to hell, obviously. Well, at least you can’t say this one has been done before.
Exit: Echoes of Insanity
“A routine night turns into a true nightmare. You are a psychologist trapped in a building filled with unsettling secrets and rooms that seem to watch you, while an unknown presence follows you without rest.” This horror puzzle game is short, sharp, and shocking — the perfect game to get through in one sitting if you’re looking for something spooky of an evening. It also looks like the kind of horror game that might have been released on the Wii back in 2009 that was secretly amazing, and I mean that as the highest compliment.
So there you have it, four great Steam games you download and play now for the low price of nothing at all. Or you could go play Crimson Desert, Pokopia, or any of the other big games that launched in the last few months. The beautiful thing about gaming is you have all these options.
