There’s a glaring error on the cover of Vice President JD Vance’s new book.
Vance is set to release a new memoir about his return to religion as an adult. The book, Communion: Finding My Way Back to Faith, is set to be published in the summer.
But one detail has raised eyebrows. Vance’s religious journey focuses on joining the Catholic church, but the church on the cover is Methodist.
Newsweek has contacted a spokesperson for Vance for comment via email.

Communion: Finding My Way Back To Faith is set to explore how Vance “strayed from the Christianity of his youth” before converting to Catholicism as an adult. The book will follow his popular 2016 memoir, Hillbilly Elegy.
Vance has previously been outspoken about the role faith plays in his personal life and public positions. He has at times been criticized for how he interprets Catholic teachings, and with political tensions running high, there has been pushback between the White House and religious leaders.
On Palm Sunday, Pope Leo XIV said God rejects the prayers of leaders who wage war, with White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt defending the administration’s use of prayer in reference to U.S. military operations in response.

The church on the cover is the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, which is located in Elk Creek, Virginia, as was confirmed in a report from PEOPLE.
Vance has not publicly addressed this at the time of reporting.
He has often spoken about his journey with religion. In October, while speaking at a Turning Point USA event at the University of Mississippi, he was asked about religion and said that he and his wife, second lady Usha Vance, were not “particularly religious” when they met, and that she considers herself Hindu.
Vance, meanwhile, went on to get serious about Catholicism.
But it’s not just the mishap on the cover that’s caught people’s attention online.
Vance shared news of the memoir in a post on X on March 31 that’s been viewed 2.8 million times as of reporting.
But along with the views has come criticism from people who questioned the timing of the memoir, amid political tensions and continued criticism of the Trump administration’s policies, from its immigration crackdown, to the ongoing war in Iran.
