President Trump warned Iran to make a deal now “before it is too late” on Thursday after US airstrikes took out Iran’s tallest bridge.
Trump shared footage of the newly built span connecting Tehran and Karaj being blown to bits and threatened “much more” destruction if Tehran doesn’t meet the US’ demands for a cease-fire.
The 446-foot tall bridge could be seen in the dramatic video collapsing in a plume of smoke following the strike.
“The biggest bridge in Iran comes tumbling down, never to be used again — Much more to follow!” the president wrote on Truth Social.
“IT IS TIME FOR IRAN TO MAKE A DEAL BEFORE IT IS TOO LATE, AND THERE IS NOTHING LEFT OF WHAT STILL COULD BECOME A GREAT COUNTRY!” he added.
A US military official told the New York Times that by destroying the bridge American forces eliminated a planned military supply route for Iran’s missile and drone forces.
The Israeli military did not participate in the airstrike and said the bridge was a US target, in a briefing with reporters Thursday.
US Central Command, which is overseeing Operation Epic Fury, did not respond to The Post’s request for comment.
It’s unclear if the bridge had been open to the public.
“Bridge B1 has not yet been inaugurated,” Mehr, an Iranian state-run news agency said, while denying that the bridge was being used as a military supply route.
The attack killed eight people and wounded 95, according to Fars, another Iranian state-run news agency.
The strike comes after Trump announced in a prime-time speech Wednesday that he intends to bomb the Iranian regime “back to the stone ages” for two to three weeks before ending the war.
“We’re going to hit them extremely hard,” he warned.
Trump noted, “we have our eyes on key targets,” if Iran refuses to make a deal with the US in the coming weeks.
“If there is no deal, we are going to hit each and every one of their electric generating plants very hard and probably simultaneously,” he said.
