PlayStation Plus Drops New Free RPG You Can Clear In A Weekend

PlayStation Plus is about to get several new free games, and if you’re looking to beat something in a single weekend, there’s an RPG that you may want to check out. As we wait for April’s PS Plus line-up to drop next week, we at least now know which games are being added to the Essential tier this month.

The official PlayStation Blog has unveiled the new Essential games arriving on PS Plus in April, and one of them is Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream. Unless you’re a big SOA fan, you probably haven’t given this one a shot before, but now that it’ll soon be free with your PS Plus subscription, you can give it a shot. You can also view the trailer below.

This PlayStation Plus RPG Is Perfect For A Weekend Binge

Although Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream has gotten mixed reviews and userscores, and despite some PS Plus members being underwhelmed by its April addition, it’s a fairly quick multiplayer RPG that you can have some fun with. You’ll by no means complete the game in a single setting, but you can beat it in a single weekend if you really put your mind to it.

Over on HowLongToBeat, the average for all playstyles is 20 hours. The main story is listed at just over 17 hours, with Main + Sides taking an average of 21.5 hours. Completionists are able to get through all of Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream in 26 hours.

If you’ve got nothing else going on during a weekend, you can start on a Friday afternoon and have the whole thing done before Monday morning. For the main story, you’re looking at less than 6 hours of gametime per day.

Sometimes A Short RPG Is A Great Palette Cleanser

Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream may not be a masterpiece, but plenty of people have enjoyed it. It’s rare to find an RPG where you can beat it without dedicating an entire month or more to it. Honestly, sometimes a shorter RPG is exactly the kind of refresher we all need. It’s like a palette cleanser between longer games.

I’ll admit, I haven’t checked out Fractured Daydream yet, but I am a fan of Sword Art Online, so I can’t wait to give this one a shot. It’s too bad the new batch of PlayStation Plus games didn’t drop this week. The holiday weekend would’ve been the ideal time to play Sword Art Online: Fractured Daydream and these other new Essential titles. Instead, they all drop on PS Plus on April 7.
