Pregnant Woman’s ‘Worst Nightmare’ Comes True, Doorbell Cam Captures It All

Viral door cam footage captured the horrifying moment a heavily pregnant woman’s greatest fear came true, causing many internet users to laud her reaction to the ordeal.

TikTok user @victoriamsoto27 took to social media to share the shocking moment she left her home just before two p.m., only to be greeted by an unexpected visitor right outside her front door.

Layered over the door cam footage, the heavily pregnant woman explained that she couldn’t see the ground beneath her feet due to her 39-week pregnancy bump—but even so, she certainly wasn’t expecting to walk straight into what she described as her “worst nightmare.”

As @victoriamsoto27 stepped outside, her fear instantly became reality when she inadvertently stepped on a large iguana, which had been perched on her doorstep. The startled reptile immediately fled the scene, while the mom-of-three recoiled in shock, clearly shaken by the sudden and frightening encounter.

While it certainly wasn’t how she expected her afternoon to begin, @victoriamsoto27 couldn’t resist sharing the jaw-dropping footage with her followers. She posted the video to TikTok on February 23, and it has since gone viral, racking up more than 1.2 million views and over 59,300 likes at the time of writing.

Newsweek has contacted @victoriamsoto27 via TikTok for comment. The details of the video could not be verified.

Fortunately, she was not seriously injured during the ordeal, though she later revealed in the TikTok caption that the iguana’s “tail whipped [her]” as it made its escape. “I actually want to die,” she joked in the caption, echoing the panic many viewers also would have felt in her position.

According to wildlife experts, encounters like this—while startling—are not uncommon in areas where iguanas are prevalent. Green iguanas are commonly found in warm climates and are known to bask in sunny, flat areas, including sidewalks, porches and doorsteps. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) notes that iguanas are not typically aggressive toward humans, but they may defensively bite, scratch or whip their powerful tails if startled or threatened.

Experts also recommend giving iguanas plenty of space when encountered, as sudden movements can trigger defensive behavior. While they do not chase people, their tail whips can be painful and may cause bruising.

In the weeks since the was shared, TikTok users have flooded the comments section with reactions that range from sympathetic to amused.

While the unexpected encounter was clearly terrifying, many internet users praised @victoriamsoto27 for handling it as best as anyone could—especially while nine months pregnant—and for sharing a moment that left millions both horrified and laughing in equal measure.

One commenter wrote: “Girl I’m just glad you didn’t fall.”

Another joked: “The important thing is, everyone panicked.”

Others couldn’t get over the sound of the iguana scrambling away, with one person commenting: “The noise it makes with his feet when it’s trying to skeedaddle away hahaha.”

Several viewers also pointed out the added stress of the moment, with one writing: “That def would’ve sent me into labor right then and there.”
