فيما كثفت إسرائيل من هجماتها على لبنان بالتزامن مع اختتام الجولة الأولى من المفاوضات بين بيروت وتل أبيب في العاصمة الأمريكية واشنطن، أعلنت السلطات اللبنانية اليوم (الثلاثاء) ارتفاع ضحايا العدوان الإسرائيلي إلى 2124 شخصاً.
وقالت وزارة وزارة الصحة اللبنانية إن عدد الجرحى ارتفع إلى 6921 شخصاً منذ بدء العدوان الإسرائيلي على لبنان في 2 مارس الماضي.
وذكرت الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام في لبنان أن منطقة صور تعرضت لغارات إسرائيلية استهدفت بلدات عين بعال، وطيردبا، وزبقين، إضافة إلى أطراف نهر الليطاني محلة القاسمية وصديقين ودير كيفا، كما تعرضت صير الغربية في قضاء النبطية وبساتين العباسية لجهة الشارع العام في صور لغارات إسرائيلية.
في المقابل، أقر الجيش الإسرائيلي بتنفيذ ضربات استهدفت ما وصفها بـ«مواقع بنية تحتية تابعة لجماعة حزب الله» في منطقة العديسة جنوبي لبنان، عازياً أسباب ذلك القصف إلى رصده تصاعداً لأنشطة الحزب في المنطقة.
وقال الجيش الإسرائيلي: «حزب الله أطلق نحو 130 صاروخاً من منطقة العديسة باتجاه قواتنا، كما استهدف مناطق داخل إسرائيل، منذ انطلاق العمليات العسكرية الإسرائيلية»، معتبراً أن هدف القصف تقويض لتمركز «حزب الله» وقدراته العملياتية.
وزعم الجيش الإسرائيلي أنه استهدف مخازن أسلحة، ومنصات إطلاق، ومراكز قيادة تابعة لـ«حزب الله».
وجاء التصعيد الإسرائيلي بالتزامن مع انتهاء محادثات مباشرة رفيعة المستوى بين لبنان وإسرائيل، في مقر وزارة الخارجية الأمريكية بواشنطن، برعاية الولايات المتحدة، ضمن مساعي جهود التهدئة والتوصل إلى اتفاق لوقف إطلاق النار ووقف الهجمات التي تشنها تل أبيب على بيروت.
وشارك في المحادثات وزير الخارجية الأمريكي ماركو روبيو، ومستشار وزارة الخارجية مايكل نيدهام، والسفير الأمريكي لدى لبنان ميشال عيسى، إلى جانب سفير إسرائيل في واشنطن يحيئيل لايتر، وسفيرة لبنان لدى الولايات المتحدة ندى حمادة.
وذكرت الوكالة الوطنية للإعلام في لبنان أن المحادثات التمهيدية بين الجانبين اللبناني والإسرائيلي انتهت بعد نحو ساعتين من انطلاقها.
As Israel intensified its attacks on Lebanon coinciding with the conclusion of the first round of negotiations between Beirut and Tel Aviv in the U.S. capital Washington, Lebanese authorities announced today (Tuesday) that the death toll from the Israeli aggression has risen to 2,124 people.
The Lebanese Ministry of Health stated that the number of injured has increased to 6,921 people since the beginning of the Israeli aggression on Lebanon on March 2nd.
The National News Agency in Lebanon reported that the Tyre area was subjected to Israeli airstrikes targeting the towns of Ain Baal, Tayr Debba, and Zibqin, in addition to the outskirts of the Litani River in the Qasmiya area, Sidqin, and Deir Kifa. The western part of Sir was also targeted in the Nabatieh district, along with the orchards of Abbasiyah near the main road in Tyre.
In contrast, the Israeli army acknowledged carrying out strikes targeting what it described as “infrastructure sites belonging to Hezbollah” in the Adaisseh area in southern Lebanon, attributing the reasons for this shelling to its observation of an escalation in the party’s activities in the region.
The Israeli army stated: “Hezbollah launched about 130 rockets from the Adaisseh area towards our forces, and also targeted areas inside Israel since the start of the Israeli military operations,” considering that the aim of the shelling was to undermine Hezbollah’s positioning and operational capabilities.
The Israeli army claimed that it targeted weapon depots, launch pads, and command centers belonging to Hezbollah.
The Israeli escalation came concurrently with the conclusion of high-level direct talks between Lebanon and Israel at the U.S. State Department in Washington, under U.S. sponsorship, as part of efforts to de-escalate and reach an agreement for a ceasefire and halt the attacks being carried out by Tel Aviv on Beirut.
Participating in the talks were U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, State Department Advisor Michael Niedermayer, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon Michel Aoun, along with Israel’s Ambassador in Washington Yahel Leiter and Lebanon’s Ambassador to the United States Nada Hamadeh.
The National News Agency in Lebanon reported that the preliminary talks between the Lebanese and Israeli sides concluded after about two hours from their start.
