On Saturday, Feb. 28, the Golden State Warriors signed Gui Santos to a $15 million, three-year contract extension, as reported by ESPN’s Shams Charania. Santos has steadily improved his game since being drafted by Golden State with the 55th pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. The third-year forward has played in 48 games for Kerr’s team this season, starting 13 of them.
Shortly after news of Santos’ contract extension went public, veteran forward Draymond Green shared a two-word message via Instagram.

“Vamos Santos!!!,” Green wrote.
Green is one of the Warriors’ most senior talents. He’s a four-time NBA champion and one of the best defenders in league history. It’s plausible to believe that he’s been a valuable mentor for Santos since he joined the franchise as a rookie. Furthermore, the duo has shared the court at times over the past two seasons.
Santos has been a key member of the Warriors’ rotation as they navigate their current injury issues. His consistent improvements and growing impact have earned him the opportunity to continue his career with the franchise that drafted him. Judging by his Instagram story, it would appear Green approves of the decision.
