Authorities urged the public not to circulate footage from a 2021 Jebel Ali fire, warning against the spread of misinformation. Abu Dhabi Airports reported an incident at Zayed International Airport resulting in one fatality and seven injuries, though it later deleted the post without explanation, according to Reuters.
The flight disruptions have been sweeping. Dubai’s flagship carrier Emirates apologized to affected customers. Qatar Airways suspended all flights to and from Doha. Turkish Airlines and low-cost carrier Pegasus cancelled flights across the region through at least Monday. Wizz Air halted all flights to and from Israel, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Amman until March 7.
Lufthansa cancelled flights to Dubai, Beirut, and Oman, while Virgin Atlantic suspended its London Heathrow-Dubai service for Saturday. Airlines cancelled nearly 40 percent of flights to Israel and 6.7 percent of flights to the wider region on Saturday, according to preliminary data from flight monitoring firm Cirium.
