A sick mother hoping for a break got an unexpected reality check from her child, and the moment is now striking a chord with parents everywhere.
On TikTok, user @thesgang6 shared a video showing herself with both of her eyes nearly swollen shut, writing in the overlaid text, “Me: on my deathbed. Kids: Can I have a snack?”
As the video begins, the mom is seen speaking to her child, asking, “You want me to open your Goldfish?”
She then manages to open the bag with her teeth before sneezing twice, with the child saying, “Bless you” after each one.
“My obituary will read: ‘She passed peacefully. The kids still wanted snacks,'” she wrote in the caption.

In the comments, one TikTok user neatly summed up the child’s reaction: “Toddler is like: ‘your hands still work, right?!?’”
Other commenters shared their own similar experiences, with one recalling, “I fell down a flight of stairs holding my son’s truck while he stood at the top screaming, ‘No, my truck!!’”
“So what are we allergic to?” another asked, to which the OP replied, “A hedgehog.”
“Girlie pop, call me at work, please! My work number is 911,” one contributor quipped.
“Meanwhile, Dad is just chillin’ on the couch next to them,” another speculated.
These kinds of moments surface frequently on social media, with one previous Newsweek story reporting on a viral TikTok video that showed a newborn baby’s “unimpressed” look towards her mother.
Using some “sad” SpongeBob music to accompany the footage, the mother wrote on the video overlay, “When you finally meet the lady that fed you crunch wrap supremes and flaming hot Cheetos every day for 9 months.”
Another Newsweek story covered a mother whose six-year-old daughter insisted on packing her lunchbox for a night-shift at work.
Her daughter, who even carried the lunchbox to the car, made her promise not to open it until she got to work. When she finally unzipped the bag, she discovered a mix of heartfelt items and some rather unconventional work snacks.
The first item? Her daughter’s talking Beetlejuice doll, but the surprises kept coming. Her daughter also packed a Lunchable, pink nail polish, a brownie, lipstick, a banana in tin foil, notes, and plenty of Jell-O—over five containers.
