Ryan Gosling’s “Saturday Night Live” monologue was upstaged by an appearance from another A-list celebrity — Harry Styles.
During the comedy sketch show, the “Notebook” actor began his opening monologue by sharing how March is a great time to host “SNL” in New York City.
Gosling then looked into the audience and asked, “Is that Harry Styles?”
The camera panned over to the “Watermelon Sugar” singer, who smiled after the crowd erupted in cheer.
“What are you doing here, man?” the “Barbie” star, 45, asked Styles.
“Well, I’m hosting next week and it’s been a while, so I just wanted to watch, get a feel for it,” the pop star, 32, replied.
Gosling quipped that Styles was “so professional.”
“That’s awesome you’re here. I just wish someone would have told me. I have a new movie coming out, it’s called ‘Project Harry Styles.’ Nope — it would be a good movie, though. It’s called ‘Project Hail Mary,’” Gosling said of his forthcoming sci-fi film.
“And people are saying it’s like ‘E.T.’ meets ‘Interstellar,’ which is crazy because those are like, what, two of the best films of all time, so they’re kind of like saying it’s like, what, double that? I don’t know, I didn’t say it,” he added.
As Gosling talked about the “perspective” that making space-related films gives him, the camera zoomed back over to Styles, who was nodding his head.
“I’m sorry, why are we on Harry Styles?” Gosling questioned, to which the “As It Was” crooner responded, “I don’t know, I’m just listening.”
“Well, could you listen less cool? I think your coolness is becoming a bit of an issue,” the three-time Oscar nominee quipped.
Later in the monologue, Gosling performed a rendition of Styles’ “Sign of the Times,” before breaking into, lyrics from the “Barbie” hit, “I’m just Ken.”
Styles released his highly anticipated fourth studio album, “Kiss All The Time. Disco, Occasionally,” last Friday.
The former One Direction singer is slated to host “SNL” Saturday.
