Former Chicago Bears cornerback Nahshon Wright has found a new home with the New York Jets. According to NFL insider Jordan Schultz, Wright has agreed to terms with the Jets on a one-year, $5.5 million contract.
Wright, 27, will join Aaron Glenn’s defense in hopes of correcting some historic wrongs from last season. In 2025, the Jets became the first team in NFL history to complete a 17-game regular season with zero interceptions.
Not a single defender caught a pass from an opposing quarterback as the Jets sank to 3-14.
In order to fix that issue, the Jets needed to find defenders with ball skills, and they might have picked the best one available. Wright snagged five interceptions in a breakout season for the Bears in 2025. He also recovered three fumbles en route to his first Pro Bowl.
The breakout campaign came out of nowhere for Wright. The former third-round pick by the Cowboys struggled to find his footing after entering the league. He played inconsistently for Dallas before being traded to Minnesota, where he played just one game in 2024. He signed for the league minimum with Chicago last offseason.
Despite the dramatic increase in production, Wright didn’t have a super competitive market this time around. Some teams were apparently unsure if Wright’s five-interception season was a true breakthrough or just an outlier.

The Jets could afford to take the risk on a one-year deal simply because something had to change defensively.
Wright will likely start opposite Brandon Stephens with the Jets and push second-year corner Azareye’h Thomas for a role in the secondary.
Wright’s 11 pass deflections and 80 tackles should bring a solid boost to New York, especially after wideouts D.J. Moore and Romeo Doubs were added to the slate of competition in the AFC East.
