Tom Brady became one of the best players the NFL has ever seen during his 23-year career with the New England Patriots and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. From 2000 to 2022, the former quarterback not only earned 15 Pro Bowl nods and three NFL MVP awards, but also won a record seven Super Bowls, six with the Patriots and one with the Bucs.
Following his retirement in 2023, Brady stayed close to the NFL, signing a 10-year, $375 million deal with Fox Sports, joining the network’s lead broadcast team alongside play-by-play commentator Kevin Burkhardt and sideline reporter Erin Andrews. And Brady has now wrapped his second year calling games, closing out the 2025 season by working the Seattle Seahawks‘ NFC Championship win over the Los Angeles Rams.

Amid the NFL offseason, Brady returned to the field on Saturday, playing in the Fanatics Flag Football Classic at BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. He suited up for Founders FFC alongside stars such as his former teammate Rob Gronkowski and wide receiver Stefon Diggs. However, Brady’s team went 0-2 at the event, including a loss to the Team USA flag football team, which is expected to compete at the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
Following the Fanatics Flag Football Classic, Brady spoke to the media in a postgame interview. And when asked whether he plans to return to the field for the 2028 Los Angeles Games, which will debut flag football as an Olympic sport, Brady made it clear he will not be playing, though he is open to taking on another role.
“No,” Brady said. “Clearly it’s not. LA 28 will be a lot of guys like you saw out there on the field to make a big commitment to try and be their best and go out there and showcase their skillset in front of a global audience. If there’s any role I can play, I’d love to. Obviously will be supporting it. Probably will be at some games. But I’d love to see the American team win it all, and it’s going to be a lot of hard work that goes into it. I think everyone realizes today that there are some things that are… the way the game is being played, you know, it’s a different body type and so forth. But that’s what you do. You kind of learn as you go.”

The 2028 Los Angeles Games will begin on July 14, 2028, and will run through July 30, 2028.
