NFC Team Could Steal Aaron Rodgers in Last-Minute Move From Steelers

Aaron Rodgers is equally invisible and also the most public man in all of the NFL.

Although no one knows whether he will retire or keep playing football, it doesn’t end speculation about when and where he could end up throwing a football.

While the current odds have him pushing off retirement for at least one more season, there’s always a chance that the enigmatic Rodgers sends a note by pigeon to let the world know that he’s done playing football and won’t ever be seen again.

If he does return to the NFL, however, the heavy favorites to sign him are the Pittsburgh Steelers.

He started for them last year and, from all accounts, got along well with all the players and staff. He truly enjoyed his time as a Steeler.

The former head coach that he won a Super Bowl with, Mike McCarthy, is the new head man.

And most importantly, they need a starting QB, and Rodgers will have zero competition regardless of how long he waits to decide whether he wants to play again.

Yet, the Steelers aren’t the only team that could use Rodgers’ services.

Out west, the Arizona Cardinals, like Rodgers, are invisible but in the middle of everything. They’re in the most difficult division, maybe in all of sports, the NFC West, and the Cardinals seem keen to kick the can down the road for a few years with a rebuild to wait out the primes of the Los Angeles Rams, San Francisco 49ers, and reigning Super Bowl champions Seattle Seahawks.

Although Jacoby Brissett is currently set as the team’s starter, that can change. And if the Cardinals are really looking towards the future, then Rodgers might be the perfect candidate to sign.

As we get closer to April’s NFL Draft, more buzz around Alabama’s Ty Simpson continues to swirl, with some pundits believing he has a higher ceiling than projected No. 1 overall pick Fernando Mendoza.

If the Cardinals believe Simpson is franchise quarterback worthy, they could snag him with their No. 3 pick or even trade up for a second first-rounder like the New York Giants did last year with Jaxson Dart.

In a world where the Cardinals grab Simpson, a signing of Rodgers would make perfect sense, giving the young Crimson Tide QB a mentor to teach him for a year or two before taking over in the desert.
