حذرت السفارة الأمريكية في العراق اليوم (الأحد)، من استهداف جامعات أمريكية في بغداد، مجددة مطالبتها لمواطنيها في مغادرة بغداد فوراً.
وقالت السفارة في بيان على حسابها في «إكس»: هناك تحديثات طفيفة على معلومات المعابر الحدودية مع الأردن، والسعودية، وتركيا، مضيفة: «إيران ووكلاؤها يعتزمون استهداف الجامعات الأمريكية في بغداد والسليمانية ودهوك، إلى جانب جامعات أخرى يُنظر إليها على أنها مرتبطة بالولايات المتحدة».
وأشارت إلى أن إيران وجّهت تهديدات إلى الجامعات الأمريكية في مختلف أنحاء الشرق الأوسط، مبينة أن وكلاء إيران نفذوا هجمات واسعة على مواطنين أمريكيين وأهداف مرتبطة بالولايات المتحدة في جميع أنحاء العراق، بما في ذلك إقليم كردستان العراق.
ولفت البيان إلى أن بعثة الولايات المتحدة في العراق لا تزال مفتوحة رغم إصدار أمر بالمغادرة، لمساعدة المواطنين الأمريكيين داخل العراق، مشددة على ضرورة توجه مواطنيها إلى السفارة في بغداد أو القنصلية العامة في أربيل بسبب المخاطر المستمرة من الصواريخ والطائرات المسيّرة في الأجواء العراقية.
وجددت السفارة الأمريكية تحذيرها لمواطنيها من المستوى الرابع، مشددة بالقول: «لا تسافروا إلى العراق لأي سبب، غادروا فوراً إذا كنتم هناك».
The U.S. Embassy in Iraq warned today (Sunday) against targeting American universities in Baghdad, reiterating its call for its citizens to leave Baghdad immediately.
The embassy stated in a message on its account on “X”: There are minor updates on the information regarding border crossings with Jordan, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, adding: “Iran and its proxies intend to target American universities in Baghdad, Sulaymaniyah, and Duhok, along with other universities perceived to be linked to the United States.”
It noted that Iran has issued threats to American universities across the Middle East, indicating that Iranian proxies have carried out extensive attacks on American citizens and U.S.-related targets throughout Iraq, including the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
The statement highlighted that the U.S. mission in Iraq remains open despite the evacuation order, to assist American citizens within Iraq, emphasizing the necessity for its citizens to head to the embassy in Baghdad or the consulate general in Erbil due to the ongoing risks from rockets and drones in Iraqi airspace.
The U.S. Embassy renewed its warning to its citizens at level four, stressing: “Do not travel to Iraq for any reason, leave immediately if you are there.”
