The Golden State Warriors got some good news on Steph Curry on Tuesday. The former back-to-back MVP has reportedly made significant progress in his recovery from a lingering knee injury. So much so that a target date has been set for his long-awaited return to action.
According to a report by The Athletic, Curry is now expected to make his highly anticipated comeback on Sunday against the Houston Rockets. The 12-time All-Star reportedly had a “successful” workout on Tuesday, leading to Golden State head coach Steve Kerr confirming the possibility of Curry suiting up on Sunday.
This will potentially be Curry’s first game back since Jan. 30.

Curry spoke to ESPN after his recovery milestone on Tuesday. After being medically cleared to participate in a five-on-five scrimmage, the four-time NBA champion point guard expressed his excitement about his imminent return.
Curry also took the opportunity to address a previous setback he suffered during his ramp-up.
“It felt great,” Curry said of the scrimmage. “I’m checking the boxes. But with this, it’s always unpredictable because I don’t know how the knee will respond because it hasn’t responded well in the past attempts to get to this five-on-five level.
“I’m right where I need to be for right now and I’m hoping that it continues until the weekend.”
The Warriors initially wanted Curry to return sometime in March. However, Kerr confirmed last week that Curry had a setback after they tried to have him participate in a five-on-five session. This further pushed back Curry’s timetable.
Either way, the good news is that Curry’s return date has finally been penciled in. There was already some fear that Golden State would have to shut him down for the rest of the season, but it appears that this now out of the question.
