Marvel stars Chris Hemsworth and Mark Ruffalo reunite for Crime 101, a heist thriller that took them out of the superhero realm and into a gritty narrative. Hemsworth, who portrayed a jewel thief, admitted to feeling self-conscious while acting opposite Ruffalo, who played a determined detective.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Hemsworth stated, “I’ve had so much fun in the Marvel films working with everyone, but that felt incredibly special, that relationship, because we’re doing something very different and unique to the space.”

The actor emphasized the importance of their dynamic, highlighting Ruffalo’s talent and kindness.

The duo is best known for their roles in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, where they bring humor and camaraderie to their characters. However, in Crime 101, the stakes were higher, and the characters are adversaries. Hemsworth reflected on the unfamiliar nature of their new roles, saying, “When this came along, it was obviously very unfamiliar territory for our dynamic.”

Ruffalo shared his thoughts on their chemistry, expressing a desire to return to their familiar dynamic as Thor and Banner.

“I personally felt it was like acting in front of a family member, where they know all your tricks, and you feel a lot more self-conscious,” Hemsworth explained. He noted that this feeling ultimately complemented his character’s emotional journey.

Ruffalo praised Hemsworth’s performance, emphasizing his excitement to see his co-star embrace a different type of role.

“He’s so good,” Ruffalo remarked.

He elaborated on the complexity of Hemsworth’s character, Mike, stating, “But when you scratch the surface a little bit more, the guy’s just a mess, you know? And that was exciting to see.”
