No Other Land” and “Mr. Nobody Against Putin,” the two past winners of the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature, have both been nominated for the 2026 Documentary George Foster Peabody Award, the organization announced April 7. The Board of Jurors revealed the nominees for the category along with their other nonfiction and journalism categories.

Aside from “No Other Land” and “Mr. Nobody Against Putin,” 20 other films were nominated in the documentary category, including: “2000 Meters to Andriivka,” “The Alabama Solution,” “Art Spiegelman: Disaster is My Muse,” “Barbara Walters: Tell Me Everything,” “Can’t Look Away: The Case Against Social Media,” “Come See Me in the Good Light,” “Critical Incident: Death and the Border,” “Hurricane Katrina: Race Against Time,” “Love + War,” “Mr. Scorsese,” “Pee-Wee as Himself,” “The Perfect Neighbor,” “Predators,” “Put Your Soul On Your Hand and Walk,” “Southpaw — The Life and Legacy of Jim Abbott,” “The Strike,” “Sunday Best: The Untold Story of Jim Sullivan,” “Thoughts & Prayers,” “Vietnam: The War That Changed America,” and “The White House Effect.”

The Public Service category includes two PBS documentaries, “Trumps Power & the Rule of Law” and “Critical Condition: Health in Black America,” as well as investigative podcast “Left to Their Own Devices” and Telemundo special “Neither Male Nor Female: Intersex.” The Podcast category includes shows like “Aftermath: Hunt for the Anthrax Killer,” “Scam Inc.”, and “Divine Intervention.” And the News category includes recognizes news specials from PBS, NBC, ABC, BBC, Al Jazeera English, and National Geographic covering issues like the war in Gaza, online radicalization of young men, the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, and the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement.

“Whether it’s America’s culture of gun violence, the generational effects of social media and big tech, inequities in governmental systems, or exploring mortality through an incurable ovarian cancer diagnosis, these nominees cut straight to the heart of the moment — fearless, unflinching reporting and storytelling that exposes injustice, amplifies unheard voices, and reflects exactly why the Peabody Awards exist: to honor work that informs, challenges, and drives meaningful change,” said Jeffrey Jones, executive Director of Peabody, in an official statement.

The Peabody winners will be revealed April 23, followed by a celebration of the nominees on May 31 at the Beverly Wilshire Hotel in Beverly Hills, CA. As previously announced, several individuals will receive special honors, including: Amy Poehler, who will receive the Peabody Career Achievement Award; Sterlin Harjo, who will receive the Peabody Trailblazer Award; James L. Brooks, who will receive the Peabody Industry Icon Award; and PBS KIDS, which will receive the Peabody Institutional Award.

The nominees for the remaining Peabody categories, including Arts, Entertainment, Children’s Media, and Interactive, will be revealed April 9. Read the list of nominees below.
