Pete Alonso has now hit his first major league home run on a team not named the Mets.
But his first Orioles roundtripper had some extra New York flavor to it.
Alonso smacked a solo homer to left-center field in the fourth inning of the Orioles’ 8-5 loss to the Rangers on Tuesday night at Camden Yards off his former Mets teammate and current Texas right-hander, Jacob deGrom.
The five-time All-Star turned on a low-and-inside fastball — which came in at 96.5 mph — from deGrom and sent it out 400 feet with a 99.1 mph exit velocity.

The blast marked Alonso’s first extra-base hit with Baltimore, with his first five hits to start the 2026 season all coming as singles.
Earlier in the game, the two former Mets had a comical moment when Alonso reached base with a base knock. Instead of firing a payoff pitch to Adley Rutschman, deGrom — even with first baseman Jake Burger holding the bag — tried to pick Alonso off.
All Alonso could do was throw his hands up in disbelief and smile.

Tuesday marked deGrom’s first start of the year after he was scratched from his weekend outing against the Phillies due to neck stiffness.
Alonso, the Mets’ all-time home run leader, left the Amazin’s in free agency for a five-year, $155 million contract, three years after deGrom left for Texas on his own five-year deal worth $185 million.
The first baseman, after his first Orioles Opening Day, said the game was all he had hoped for.
“It felt like a movie today,” he told reporters after Baltimore’s win. “It was such a treat to be a part of.”
