Head coach Steve Kerr and NBA star Stephen Curry have helped each other in their careers over the past 12 seasons. Since becoming the coach, Kerr has helped lead the Golden State Warriors to four championships, thanks to the generational talent that Curry has. However, all good things must end.
Many fans have realized that Curry is in the latter stages of his career. Given the numerous injuries he has sustained over the last several seasons, he may soon retire. This has raised a question about Kerr and his commitment to the Warriors moving forward.
Without the two-time MVP, will Kerr remain as the Warriors’ head coach?

Kerr appeared on Tuesday’s episode of 95.7 The Game’s “Willard & Dibs” to answer the hypothetical.
“I have no idea,” Kerr said. “When you’re 60, you’ve been doing something for 12 years, and you love the people you work with, you literally just take it one year at a time. I have no idea what’s gonna happen when I’m done with the Warriors. I don’t have any idea really what’s gonna happen next year.”

Kerr knows that the dynasty he built with Curry and Draymond Green is slowly fading away. It could soon end, but his mentality isn’t focused on it. His future is an important topic for the organization moving forward. Green also addressed the coach’s future in his Tuesday appearance on ESPN’s “NBA Today.”
“Steph doesn’t want another coach,” the four-time All-Star said. “When you’ve been through what we’ve gone through, the success that we’ve had… Like, what, is Steph going into year 18? You’re like, ‘Oh, we’re getting a new coach now?’
“No one wants that. What Steve has brought to this organization and there [are] many ways that he brought to this organization, we won four championships under coach Kerr.”
Kerr has established himself as one of the most successful coaches in NBA history. He’s also the winningest coach in Warriors history, and Green believes he has the right to decide when his time with the franchise is over.
Over the past few seasons, Kerr and the Warriors have struggled to be title contenders. The team’s most recent competitive season was in 2022–2023, when they advanced to the second round of the playoffs. Following that, Golden State missed the playoffs.
The only reason they reached the playoffs last year was that they traded for Jimmy Butler. However, the veteran star’s age has started to show, and injuries have played a bigger factor this time around compared to the past seasons.
